The Pittsburgh Steelers (abbreviated as PIT) are a professional American football team based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA. The Steelers compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the North division of the American Football Conference (AFC). This unofficial Pittsburgh Steelers flag consists of the team's official logo and a black background derived from the logo. The logo was originally the logo of the American Iron and Steel Institute and featured a circle around three four-sided geometric shapes called hypocycloids in yellow, red, and blue. These colors represent the three materials used to make the steel: yellow for coal, red for iron ore, and blue for steel scrap.
