Ballspielverein Borussia 09 e.V. Dortmund, commonly known as Borussia Dortmund, BVB, or simply Dortmund, is a German professional sports club based in Dortmund, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany that plays in the Bundesliga (2022–23), the top tier of the German football league system. This unofficial Borussia Dortmund flag (German: inoffizielle Flagge von Borussia Dortmund) consists of the team's official logo and a black-yellow background derived from the logo. The abbreviation "BVB" in the round logo stands for "Ballspielverein Borussia" (Ballspielverein means ball playing club), and the number "09" marks the year 1909 when the club was founded.
