Flag of Basilicata (GIF)



The flag of Basilicata (Italian: Bandiera della Basilicata) is a dark blue flag with a shield-shaped coat of arms of the region in the middle. The coat of arms of the Basilicata region consists of a silver Samnite shield with four blue waves. The four waves represent the four major rivers of the region: Basenot, Agri, Bradano, and Sinni. The height-to-width ratio in the flag is 2:3, and the flag was adopted on June 22, 1973. Basilicata is a region in southern Italy. Its capital is Potenza; its population is about 562,869 (2019); and its area is 10,073 km².
