The flag of Veneto (Italian: Bandiera del Veneto) consists of a Veneto coat of arms on a Pompeian red background and seven stripes on the right that bear the coats of arms of the seven Veneto capitals. The coat of arms of Veneto shows the Lion of Saint Mark and a Bible opened in the landscape of Veneto: the sea (Adriatic), the land (the Venetian Plain), and the mountains (the Alps). The height-to-width ratio in the flag is 2:3, and the flag was adopted on May 20, 1975. Veneto is one of the 20 regions of Italy. Its capital is Venice; its population is about 4.906 million (2019); and its area is 18,020 km².
