Flag of Tuscany (GIF)

The Tuscany flag (Italian: Bandiera della Toscana) is a white flag with thin red stripes above and below the coat of arms in the center. The coat of arms is a Samnite shield showing a Pegasus. The Pegasus (a winged horse) was a symbol of the National Liberation Committee of Tuscany during World War II. The height-to-width ratio in the flag is 2:3, and the flag was adopted on May 20, 1975 (readopted with its coat of arms on February 3, 1995). Tuscany is a region in the center of Italy. Its capital is Florence; its population is about 3.73 million (2019); and its area is 22,987 km².
