The flag of Jordan (Arabic: علم الأردن) consists of horizontal black, white, and green bands with a red triangle on the left carrying a seven-pointed white star in the middle. The colors are the pan-Arabic colors, representing the Abbasid, Umayyad, and Fatimid caliphs. The red triangle is for the Hashemite dynasty and the Arab Revolt. The height-to-width ratio in the flag is 1:2, and the flag was adopted on April 18, 1928.
Its coat of arms includes a Royal Hashemite Crown, an eagle symbolizing strength, fortitude, and majesty, two flags representing the flag of the Great Arab Revolt, a bronze shield symbolizing defense, a yellow spike, a green palm branch, and a medal of the Al Nahda First Order. In addition, the colors of the eagle represent the flag and turban of the Islamic prophet Muhammad, and the blue globe represents the emergence of Islamic civilization.
