The flag of Iran (Persian: پرچم ایران) is a tricolor made of green, white, and red horizontal bands with a red national emblem ("Allah," the name of God) centered on the white band. Also, a white Takbeer text (Allahu akbar: Allah, the God, is the greatest) is written in Kufic script 11 times on green and red bands. The color green symbolizes growth, happiness, unity, nature, and vitality. The white color represents freedom, while the red color represents martyrs. The height-to-width ratio of the flag is 4:7, and the flag was adopted in 1980.
