The flag of Hungary (Hungarian: Magyarország zászlaja) is a tri-colored flag consisting of three horizontal lines: red, white, and green. The red color represents the blood spilled for the country. The white color symbolizes freedom. The green color refers to the Hungarian pastures. The height-to-width ratio in the flag is 1:2, and the flag was adopted on May 23, 1957.
In the coat of arms, the left part of the shield has lines representing the four rivers of the country, and the right part features a double cross in a crown on a trimountain representing the country's mountains. At the top of the shield is the Holy Crown of St. Stephen.
