The national flag of Colombia (Spanish: La bandera de Colombia) is a horizontal three-color flag made of yellow (double width), blue, and red. The yellow color represents the wealth of the country, as well as gold, the sun, sovereignty, and justice. The blue color symbolizes the sea and the sky, and the red color expresses the spilled blood for the independence of Colombia. The height-to-width ratio in the flag is 2:3, and the flag was adopted on November 26, 1861.
Its coat of arms includes a vulture symbolizing freedom with an olive crown, sailing ships symbolizing maritime history, a pomegranate symbolizing the Viceroyalty of New Granada, a Phrygian cap symbolizing freedom, and golden coins and fruits poured from horns symbolizing abundance.
