The flag of Denmark (Danish: Danmarks flag [Dannebrog]) is a red flag with a white Scandinavian cross extending to the edge of the flag. White symbolizes peace and honesty, while red symbolizes strength, courage, and hardiness. Its height-to-width ratio changed from 28:34 (14:17) to 28:37. The Danish flag was adopted in 1748. Therefore, this flag holds the world record for being the oldest continuously used national flag.
Its coat of arms consists of three blue lions crowned with nine red lilypads (normally symbolizing heraldic hearts) on a golden shield with a royal crown on it.
