The flag of Venezuela (Spanish: Bandera de Venezuela) is composed of three horizontal yellow, blue, and red stripes with eight white stars lined up like a bow in the middle. The yellow color represents the richness of the country, the wealth of Venezuelan land, gold, sovereignty, harmony, justice, and agriculture, as well as the sun. The blue color represents the Caribbean Sea as well as the beaches of Venezuela. And the red color represents the spilled blood in the war of independence. The height-to-width ratio in the flag is 2:3, and the flag was adopted on March 12, 2006.
The shield in its coat of arms shows 24 wheat stalks, symbolizing the unity of the 24 states and the wealth of the nation; arms and flags tied with a laurel branch, symbolizing victory; and a freely running white horse, symbolizing independence and freedom. On the shield are two horns of fertility that scatter many fruits and herbs, and the shield is surrounded by olive and palm branches.
