The flag of Reunion (French: Drapeau de la Réunion) consists of five yellow stripes running from the top end of a red triangle half the height of the flag to the edges, on a blue background. It depicts the Fournaise volcano bedecked with golden sunbeams. The meaning of the colors is "red for the volcano and strength, blue for the sky and sweetness, and yellow for the sun and clarity." The height-to-width ratio in the flag is 2:3, and the flag was adopted on March 1, 2003. In addition, the national flag of France is officially used instead of this flag.
Réunion is an island in the Indian Ocean in East Africa and a French overseas department and territory. It has no capital city, and its population is approximately 868,846 (2022).
