The flag of New Caledonia (French: Drapeau de la Nouvelle-Calédonie) consists of three horizontal stripes of blue, red, and green, charged with a yellow disk with a black symbol inside on the hoist side. Blue symbolizes the sky and the ocean. Red symbolizes the blood shed for independence, socialism, and unity. Green symbolizes the land. The yellow disc symbolizes the sun, and the symbol on it is a kind of spire that is traditionally erected on the roof ends of houses. The height-to-width ratio in the flag is 1:2, and the flag was adopted on July 13, 2010.
New Caledonia is a group of islands and a special collectivity of France in the southwest Pacific Ocean. Its capital is Nouméa, and its population is approximately 272,620 (2021).
