Flag of Alabama (GIF)



The flag of the state of Alabama consists of a crimson cross of Saint Andrew on a white field. The cross that extends to the edge of the flag symbolizes Saint Andrew's crucifixion. The height-to-width ratio in the flag is 2:3, and the flag was adopted on February 16, 1895. Alabama is a state in the southeastern region of the United States. Its capital is Montgomery, and its largest city is Birmingham; its population is about 5.04 million (2021), and its area is 52,420 mi².
