Flag of Arizona (GIF)



The Arizona flag contains thirteen red and yellow rays in the upper half, representing the first thirteen US states and the sunset in Arizona. The copper-colored star in the center represents mining, while the blue area that forms the lower half of the flag represents the Colorado River. The height-to-width ratio in the flag is 2:3, and the flag was adopted on January 25, 1917. Arizona is a US state in the southwestern region of the United States. Its capital is Phoenix; its population is approximately 7.276 million (2021); and its area is 113,990 mi².
