Flag of Tennessee (GIF)
The state flag of Tennessee consists of a blue bar on the right and a centered emblem on a red field. The emblem consists of three white stars in a blue circle with a white edge. The three stars represent the three grand divisions of the state. The blue circle around the stars symbolizes the unity of the "Grand Divisions" of the state. However, the blue bar on the right edge of the flag is just a design idea. The height-to-width ratio in the flag is 3:5, and the flag was adopted on April 17, 1905.
Tennessee is a state in the southeastern region of the United States. Its capital is Nashville; its population is about 6.975 million (2021); and its area is 42,144 mi².
