Flag of North Carolina (GIF)
The North Carolina flag consists of two red and white horizontal stripes on the right and a blue vertical stripe on the left. The blue stripe contains a white star with the letter "N" on the left and the letter "C" on the right. In addition, the following two dates are written above and below the star: May 20, 1775 (Mecklenburg Declaration of Independence) and April 12, 1776 (Halifax Resolves). The height-to-width ratio in the flag is 2:3, and the flag was adopted in 1991.
North Carolina is a US state in the southeastern region of the United States. Its capital is Raleigh, and its largest city is Charlotte; its population is about 10.55 million (2021), and its area is 53,819 mi².
