Flag of Colorado (GIF)

The flag of Colorado is characterized by three equally-sized horizontal stripes, with blue stripes on the top and bottom and a white stripe in the middle. In the center of the white stripe, there is a large red letter "C," representing the state's name, "Colorado." The red color is symbolic of the "ruddy" earth that covers a significant portion of the state's terrain. Within the letter "C," a gold disc is situated, signifying both the abundant sunshine the state receives and its historical association with gold mining. The blue stripes are representative of the clear skies, while the white stripe symbolizes the snow-capped peaks of the Rocky Mountains and the state's silver mining industry. Collectively, the blue and white colors also pay homage to the iconic Colorado state flower, the columbine. This flag design encapsulates the natural beauty, historical significance, and unique characteristics of the Centennial State.
