Flag of Connecticut (GIF)

Connecticut is the southernmost state in the northeastern US's New England region. Its capital is Hartford and its largest city is Bridgeport; its population is about 3,588,000 and its area is 5,543 mi². The Connecticut flag consists of a white baroque shield with three grape vines, each carrying three bunches of purple grapes on a dark blue background. There is also a stripe below the shield, which is written on the state slogan of Connecticut, which means "He who transplanted still sustains". The height-to-width ratio in the flag is 3:4 and the flag was adopted on September 9, 1897.
