Flag of South Carolina (GIF)
The flag of South Carolina is a dark blue flag with a white palm tree in the middle and a white crescent in the upper left corner. The crescent represented the silver emblem on the hats of South Carolina soldiers during the Revolutionary War, while the blue color was taken from the uniforms. The height-to-width ratio in the flag is 3:5, and the flag was adopted on January 28, 1861. South Carolina is a US state in the southeastern part of the United States. Its capital is Columbia, and its largest city is Charleston; its population is about 5.191 million (2021), and its area is 32,020 mi².
