The national flag of Barbados consists of three bands of blue, yellow, and blue with a black triangle centered on the yellow band. Blue represents the ocean and the sky, and yellow symbolizes the sand. Trident's three points represent the three pillars of democracy: the government of the people, the government for the people, and the government by the people. The height-to-width ratio in the flag is 2:3, and the flag was adopted on November 30, 1966.
Also included in the coat of arms are the helmet, which is a national symbol, the dolphinfish and pelican bird holding the shield with a bearded fig tree, and the cross-shaped two sugar canes held by a Barbadian.
