The flag of Oman (Arabic: علم عُمان) consists of a vertical red stripe containing the national emblem of Oman and three horizontal stripes of white, red, and green. White symbolizes Oman's religious leader and peace. Green is traditionally associated with Jabal al Akhdar, or "Green Mountains," and the red color is a common color used in Gulf state flags. The height-to-width ratio in the flag is 1:2, and the flag was adopted on April 25, 1995.
In its emblem, there is a dagger, which is the symbol of the sultanate, on two crossed historical swords used by the people of Oman, and an ornamented waist belt that connects them.
