The flag of San Marino (Italian: Bandiera di San Marino) consists of two equal horizontal white and light blue bands with the national coat of arms of San Marino in the center. The two colors of the flag represent peace (white) and freedom (blue). The height-to-width ratio in the flag is 3:4, and the flag was adopted on April 6, 1862.
In its coat of arms are the three castles of San Marino (La Guaita, La Cesta, and La Montale) on three hills, representing the three peaks of Monte Titano. On the top of the coat of arms, there is a crown symbolizing sovereignty; around it are oak and laurel branches, symbolizing the stability of the republic and the defense of freedom.
