Like many old and existing British addictions, the Tuvalu flag is a blue ensign based on the Union Flag shown in the upper left corner of the flag, but instead of traditional blue, it has a sky blue field. The stars represent the nine islands that make up Tuvalu, and the stars are arranged according to the real position of the islands. The height-to-width ratio in the flag is 1:2, and the flag was adopted on April 11, 1997.
Its coat of arms is a gold-bordered shield surrounded by eight banana leaves and eight shellfish. The shield features a maneapa, a traditional meeting house, and wavy blue stripes, symbolizing the ocean.
Formerly known as the Ellice Islands, Tuvalu is a Polynesian island country located in the Pacific Ocean. Its capital is Funafuti, and its population is about 11,925 (2021). According to its maritime borders, it borders with Fiji and Kiribati.
