The Alberta flag consists of a coat of arms centered on a blue background. The coat of arms contains symbols that reflect Alberta's British heritage, along with local symbols. In the upper part of the shield is the red cross of Saint George. At the bottom of the shield are the Rocky Mountains, grass meadows, and wheatfields, which represent the landscape of Alberta. The height-to-width ratio in the flag is 1:2, and the flag was adopted on June 1, 1968.
