New Brunswick Flag GIF (Drapeau Nouveau-Brunswick)

The flag of New Brunswick (French: Drapeau du Nouveau-Brunswick) consists of a golden lion in the red area in the upper third and an old ship floating on the blue and white wavy lines in the yellow area in the lower two-thirds. The golden lion implies the Royal Arms of England and the coat of arms of the Duchy of Brunswick-Lüneburg, while the old ship evokes the historic ship industry of New Brunswick. The height-to-width ratio in the flag is 5:8, and the flag was adopted on February 24, 1965.

New Brunswick is one of the three Maritime provinces on the east coast of Canada. Its capital city is Fredericton, and its largest city is Moncton; its population is about 776,827 (2019), and its area is 72,908 km².
