Flag of Manitoba (GIF)
The flag of Manitoba (French: Drapeau du Manitoba) is a red ensign with the shield of the provincial coat of arms on the right. The coat of arms contains symbols that reflect Manitoba's British heritage, along with local symbols. In the upper part of the shield is the red cross of St. George, representing England. At the bottom of the shield is a buffalo standing on a rock on a green background. The height-to-width ratio in the flag is 1:2, and the flag was adopted on May 12, 1966.
Manitoba is a province in the longitudinal center of Canada. Its capital and largest city is Winnipeg; its population is approximately 1.369 million (2019); and its area is 647,797 km².
