Flag of Carinthia (GIF)



The flag of Carinthia (German: Flagge von Kärnten) consists of three horizontal yellow, red, and white stripes with the coat of arms of Carinthia in the middle. The shield-shaped coat of arms of Carinthia is divided vertically into two parts. On the left, there are three black lions on a yellow background, and on the right, there is a white horizontal stripe on a red background. The height-to-width ratio of the flag is 2:3, and its history dates back to 1946. Carinthia is the southernmost state of Austria. Its capital is Klagenfurt; its population is about 560,939 (2019); and its area is 9,536 km².
