Lower Austria Flag GIF (Niederösterreichische Flagge)
The flag of Lower Austria (German: Flagge von Niederösterreich) consists of two blue and yellow horizontal stripes with the coat of arms of Lower Austria in the middle. The coat of arms consists of a blue shield with five golden eagles and a golden mural crown on top of the shield with three castle merlons. The height-to-width ratio in the flag is 2:3, and the flag was adopted in 1954. Lower Austria is Austria's largest and most northeastern state. Its capital is Sankt Pölten; its population is about 1.678 million (2019); and its area is 19,178 km².
