Flag of Sakha (GIF)
The flag of Sakha (Yakutia) (Russian: Флаг Саха [Якутия]) is composed of three horizontal, narrow white, red, and green strips at the bottom of a blue background and a white disc centered in the blue field. The disc represents the northern sun. Light blue, white, and green colors represent the sky, snow, and taiga landscapes, respectively. Also, red symbolizes the courage and stability of the people. The height-to-width ratio in the flag is 1:2, and the flag was adopted on October 14, 1992. The Sakha Republic (Yakutia) is a federal region of Russia. Its capital is Yakutsk; its population is about 995,686 (2021); and its area is 3,103,200 km².
