Flag of Tuva (GIF)

The flag of Tuva (Tyva) (Tuvan: Тываның күрүне тугу; Russian: Флаг Тывы [Тува]) is a visually striking representation of the region's rich cultural and natural heritage. It consists of a light blue field and a yellow triangle separated from this field on the left by a left-leaning Y shape in light blue with a white border. White symbolizes silver and virtue, while the yellow triangle represents gold and the influence of Buddhism in the region. The blue field carries dual symbolism, representing both the morals of the nomadic herdsmen, highly regarded in Tuva, and the expansive Tuvan sky. The blue Y shape holds profound significance, symbolizing the confluence of the Bii-Khem and Kaa-Khem rivers at the Tuvan capital of Kyzyl, where they unite to form the Yenisei River, locally known as the Ulug-Khem River. This intricate design on the flag not only showcases Tuva's geographical features but also encapsulates the region's historical and cultural significance, emphasizing its connection to the land, rivers, and the enduring traditions of its people.
