Flag of Bashkortostan (GIF)



The flag of Bashkortostan (Russian: Флаг Башкортостана) consists of three horizontal stripes: blue, white, and green, and a Kurai flower in the middle of a yellow circle. The Kurai Flower, the symbol of friendship, and its seven leaves represent the seven tribes that brought unity and consolidation to Bashkortostan. Blue represents the integrity and perfection of the thoughts of the Bashkortostan people, while white symbolizes their willingness for peace and cooperation. And green represents freedom and eternal life. The height-to-width ratio in the flag is 2:3, and the flag was adopted on February 25, 1992.

Bashkortostan, historically known as Bashkiria, is a federal region of Russia. Its capital is Ufa; its population is about 4.091 million (2021); and its area is 143,600 km².
