Glarus Flag GIF (Glarner Flagge)



The Glarus flag (German: Flagge von Glarus; French: Drapeau de Glaris) is a square red flag with a pilgrim holding a scepter in his right hand and a bible in his left hand. It is thought that the pilgrim symbolizes St. Fridolin. The current official design of the flag dates back to 1959. Glarus is a canton in the east of central Switzerland. Its capital is Glarus; its population is approximately 40,403 (2019); and its area is 685 km².
