The Schleswig-Holstein flag (German: Flagge Schleswig-Holsteins) is a three-color flag with horizontal blue, white, and red lines. The height-to-width ratio of the flag is 3:5, and the flag was adopted in 1948. Also, there is a coat of arms of the state in the middle of the flag used by state officials. Schleswig-Holstein is the northernmost state in Germany. Its capital is Kiel; its population is approximately 2.897 million (2019); and its area is 15,799 km².
