Geneva Flag GIF (Drapeau de Genève)

The Geneva flag (French: Drapeau de Genève; German: Flagge von Genf) is a square flag with a red-crowned black eagle on a yellow background in the left half and a golden key on a red background in the right half. The eagle symbolizes loyalty, justice, and protection. The key represents religious rules, treasures, and responsibility. The coat of arms of Geneva also consists of two shields: half of the eagle of the Holy Roman Empire and one of Saint Peter's two keys ("the keys to heaven"). Geneva is the most western French-speaking canton in Switzerland. Its capital is Geneva; its population is about 499,480 (2019); and its area is 282 km².
