Flag of American Samoa (GIF)



American Samoa is a region associated with the United States of America in the South Pacific Ocean. Its population is approximately 56,000, and its area is 75.1 mi². The flag of American Samoa consists of a white triangle covering the flag with a red edge based on the left on a dark blue background. To the right of the triangle is a bald eagle holding a battle bat and a fly-killer in its paw. Red, white, and blue represent the colors traditionally used by the United States and Samoa, and the bald eagle symbolizes the United States. The height-to-width ratio in the flag is 10:19, and the flag was adopted on April 17, 1960.
