The Basel-Country flag (German: Flagge von Basel-Landschaft; French: Drapeau de Bâle-Campagne) is a white square flag with a red wand centered on it. The interesting heraldic shape of the wand dates back to the 13th century when it was used by the Prince-Bishopric of Basel. The seven roundels of the wand represent the seven counties of Canton. Basel-Country is one of the 26 cantons of Switzerland. Its capital is Liestal; its population is about 288,132 (2019); and its area is 518 km².
